It is already December 3rd and the PANIC is SETTING IN. It is CRAFTAPALOOZA in my house right now, a slightly neurotic and anxiety-attacky flurry of fabrics and threads and yarns as I attempt to make something for everyone. I've made good progress (since I started like a month ago), and intellectually I know I'll be fine and I'll get everything done, but I have this guttural terror of not getting everything done.
But lately I have made some cool things, if I do say so myself.
Yes, a narwhal.

This guy was so awesome that my sister, who didn't even know what a narwhal was, wanted him, so I ended up making three of them altogether.
Here's the pod!

Their horns are shiny!

I made them out of white and gray fleece which I spatter painted with unevenly diluted black acrylic. The horn is made of iridescent lamee laid over some plain white broadcloth, and the eyes are felt.
This guy is a jointed doll, which means that his limbs move, and his fingers are wired with pipecleaners so they're posable, too. I am pretty damn proud of him.

He can actually hold onto his sword.

From the back

:/ These pictures make his shield look all muddy. The colors are much crisper than that in person, and the red bits do not sort of melt into the blue like this picture wants you to believe.
In that utility pocket, he's got an ocarina.

I love his little fingers!

A wee little SimMaster doll. I love his little tie!

Season 12(I think . . . or it could be 14) Fourth Doctor Scarf

This thing is RIDICULOUSLY long. It's like 15 feet or something. I have to wrap it around my neck like three times because I am not a 6'4" man.
Manga bag featuring Fullmetal Alchemist's Black Hayate

It has a pocket!

Back

I am really proud of this bag because not only did I design the fabric (I put the collages together in photoshop), but I treated the fabric myself and printed the fabric and then dyed the fabric that sort of antiquey brown with a coffee dye, which I also made myself. And then I made the bag pattern myself as well. I have narrowed the strap since I took those pictures, too, because I thought it was too wide there. Anyway, yeah, I am very pleased with this bag.
Whoo, I've been busy. Yup. I've made more stuff than that but I can't share it yet :3
In other news, if I here ONE MORE WORD ABOUT TIGER WOODS I AM GOING TO LOSE MY SHIT AND GO HULK-SMASH ON NANCY GRACE AND THE WHOLE OF THE MASS MEDIA WHO CONTINUE TO HARP ON THIS SITUATION WHEN ACTUAL NEWS IS OUT THERE HAPPENING. HIS POSSIBLE MISTRESS HAD A LARGER PART OF THE FRONT PAGE OF THE NEW YORK POST THAN THE GODDAMN PRESIDENT TALKING ABOUT THE GODDAMN WAR IN IRAQ YOU FUCKING IDIOTS AKFALKSDGHQIUAF;KHLA;LKFHAEBRLGJDFK.NHBHL.

When looking at Link, am I the only person who can't help but think of "Dark Crystal"?

I guess Link does look a bit like Jen when he's playing his ocarina.

That bag is unbelievable. You could probably make a pretty penny just selling the fabric. Have you ever thought about opening an Etsy store or something? Because anime fans would love you forever. How do you print fabric? I never knew you could do that!
Professional narwhal looks professional!

I have thought about etsy, but I haven't yet had the time to make enough things that didn't already have homes to open a store. The bags are reletively easy to contruct, though, so that could be an option. And the narwhals, actually. They only take about two hours to make not counting the time it takes for the paint to dry.
Printing fabric is fun! I have this solution full of weird chemicals that I treat the fabric with called Bubble Jet Set. You let that dry into the fabric and then you iron it onto a piece of freezer paper and you can just print on the fabric like computer paper. Then I use a colorfast detergent to rinse out the solution and a little bit of excess ink and voila! Printed fabric. The only downside is that the pieces can't be bigger than 8.5"x11", but that's a usable size when it comes to bags and appliques and things like that.

I still think link needs pants. Or shorts. Or summat. But he looks rad. Also. OCARINA. So cool.
You my friend are super talented. I second Suzi. ETSY.

This Link doesn't have anything to hide, anyway. Literally.
