I fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinally finished Anna Karenina. I've been reading that damn thing since the backend of September. BLOODY HELL is it long. And not just because its like 800 pages - that alone is of no real concern. The thing is that there are like five hundred unrelated storylines in it and I was expecting them to sort of come together in the end, but they didn't. Anna herself is not even MENTIONED in the last fifty pages. I found the ending to be weirdly off topic.

Whatever, I'm glad I read it. Freaking Russians are crazy, though. They must be on permanent brainfreeze or something.

Anyway, here are the fun pictures of the stuff I made for Chels' birthday.

First, the applique Tardis pillow.

That's Time And Relative Dimension In Space to you, bucko.

And a little closer.

The applique stitching on the top light, the windows and the notice as well as the embroidered "Police Public Call Box" glow in the dark. Because everything is cooler if it glows in the dark.

And now Morpheus from Neil Gaiman's Sandman

His hair is made of black dyed Corriedale, which is a really fine, soft wool. So he's a little woolly headed, he makes no excuses. His hair was much larger (quite a frightening bouffant, in fact) but I think now it is at least close to the proper size. AND, his cape is attached with snap buttons so it's detachable, and it can also be wrapped around him to make a variety of outfits. If thrown over his shoulder and draped properly, it is a black toga (circa his partnership with Calliope and the life of Orpheus) or it can be folded around his legs like the tight-fitting Egyptian garments he might wear while visiting Bast. Yes, I did play with him before I handed him out. Also, he had a wire down his back which can be used to turn his head in a mildly creepy fashion (a wire which had to be installed post head-attachment because his hair, even pared down, was too heavy for his little broadcloth neck).

Blast it. Now I am having very bad thoughts about making an L doll with a second outfit (aside from his regular white shirt and jeans). And it shall be empire-waisted and blue because we all know that, with his complexion, gold would would wash him right out.

x-posted a few little places

Doooooo iitttt!!! L totally needs a dress.

I'd thought about doing a paper doll version with other outfits as well. And a few friends. (I'm thinking Light in a hoop skirt but it might make him "hippy".) Also it might end up on my Tegakie at some point as well.

Haha, your bout with Anna Karenina reminds me of my epic FOUR YEAR BATTLE with Mists of Avalon. It was a very similar, ehrm, ailment. 5,000 characters with interwoven plots and events that go backward and forward in time. . .I'd get seasick every time I picked the damn thing up! It was 900 pages of "WTF,, mate?" ;)
