REAL Dragon*con Post

Okay, Dragon*con (this time with pictures!)

Hehe. Okay, so we got there on Thursday, the day before the convention started, so we could settle in to the hotel and check in to the con (which took like an hour due to the lines)(keep watching, because lines are gonna be a theme). We had to pay homage to the ant people so that they didn't kill us in our sleep.

That is a picture from the 29th floor of the Hyatt Regency. The Hyatt ant people live in those plants and they are very secretive, but also the fiercer of the two ant peoples.

This is a picture from the 47th floor of the Marriot Marquis. The ant people in this hotel feel no need to hide because they are so freaking high up they hardly ever come in contact with the convention goers. (Sidenote, both of these hotels have glass elevators which are wicked fun to ride up and down, somewhat like a carnival).

Okay, now on to actual people we met.

On Friday, we went to a small stargate panel in the Hyatt, because not all of them were there yet. After the panel, we went down to the Walk of Fame (where all the famous people go to sit and wait to be met), and we met some cool people. First, it was James Marsters. We had to wait on line for like half and hour just to get to him, but it was worth it. He was so nice, and even though he still had a long line waiting for him, he took four or five minutes just to talk to us. He was SOOO NICE! Eeeeeee. His handlers (which is apparently what those people who sit next to the actors are called - kinda makes them sound like show dogs) had a no pictures policy, so unfortunately we have to pictures with him. :( He was still super nice.

Next, it was John de Lancie, better known as Q from Star Trek.

He was quite pleasant, and told us all about how his first girlfriend (who he still is friends with) has a grown daughter named Hallie.

Next, it was Elisabeth Rohm, who played Kate in Angel and is also now on Law and Order.

She told us that we would probably all look like sisters in the picture and was very nice, asking how we were enjoying the convention.

After that, we went over to see Alexis Cruz (Skaara from Stargate), who actually remembered us from two years ago when we met him before.

He's so adorable, and funny too. It's always nice to see him at the con because he is so personable. And adorable.

Okay, so then we met Paul McGillion (Carson Beckett from Stargate Atlantis, among other things). We didn't meet him two years ago because we hadn't seen Atlantis yet, but he was just the sweetest man.

(I look terrible in that picture)
He told us to call him Paulie because that's what his friends call him, and he teased us about our shirts (because, instead of going in costume [sorry Suz] we wore geeky t-shirts that we made).

Then we met Corin Nemec (Jonas Quinn from Stargate). It was okay, you know, I wasn't all that impressed with him. He was nice enough. We didn't get a picture with him because he was charging $15 for it. Lame.

We rounded on Gordon Wolvett (Reb from Deep Water Black which no one but me seems to remember, and Harper on Andromeda). He was cool. We talked about DWB for a few minutes, and he told us a funny story about bumping into Nikki deBoer in Home Depot.

Then we met Mark Shepherd (Badger on Firefly and someone on Galactica, I dunno). He told us we should watch Battlestar Galactica. I'm planning on ignoring him.

Then on Saturday we waited on line all day for the stargate panel, which was worth it, but we didn't get to do anything else, which was sad.

On Sunday, we got up early to go meet more people!

First, we met Claudia Black, who is hilarious, but also very pregnant, which is why I think she wasn't doing pictures. She was still nice.

Then we met Michael Shanks!!! Daniel Jackson for lay people. He was extremely nice, chatting with us for a minute and talking a picture with us (which, incedentally, came out really badly because my camera was on the wrong setting)

We came back the next day and he was nice enough to let us retake the picture. We also gave him the Daniel Jackson comic we'd made for him, and he laughed. (That comic will make an appearance here at some point . . .)

Then we met Jason Momoa, who is just as hot in person as on tv (as Ronon Dex on Stargate Atlantis).

He commented on our shirts also, and we told him that Hallie (who is in love with him) had a shirt she'd worn the day before with his picture on it. We came back later (for the same reason as with Shanks) and he asked about the shirt, so we of course had to come back again with the shirt for him to see, and he signed it twice. He was super shy, with his little glasses (which he took off for the picture) and so nice to us every time we came down, remembering us before we said anything. Ee, so cute!

Then, finally, we met Chris Judge(Teal'c from Stargate).

He was funny, wearing his sunglasses because he didn't want us to see how bloodshot his eyes were from alcohol and strip clubs the night before. Funny man.

We waited on lots of other lines, saw lots of crazy costumes (including, but not limited to Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Princess Peach, Toadstool, the Dread Pirate Roberts, Princess Buttercup, Fessik, Inigo Montoya, Pacman and two ghosts, Ash and Pikachu, hundreds of Stormtroopers, and Shrek with a wagon full of babies) but my butt hurts from this stupid stool my sister has me sitting on, so that's all for now.

Yay dragon*con. Next year, we're gonna dress up.
