Yay Christmas! And Now we're done.
I got lots of cool stuff for X-mas, like a new audiobook (about the princes of Ireland), some new dvds (Willow and Harvard Man) some video games (Tekkenn 4 and Dark Cloud 2), some books (Trickster's Choice and a book of Ireland from above) some cds (Aimee Mann's I'm With Stupid and the Craft soundtrack) and osme calendars (Corgis and Buffy.) There were some other odds and ends, like cool pajamas and a sweater, but that's the jist. My biggest present, however, was Stargate SG1, season 2. Yay. How could I go on without knowing whether or not Senator Kinsey was able to effectively keep the Stargate program down after SG1 risks their necks to save earth!? Because it's fun, I'm going to do as Krista did with Buffy and give a little list of my likes and dislikes from the SG1 season 2 episodes Serpent's Lair through Thor's Chariot.
Likes (a much longer list than the other)
-Dwight Schultz! As the freakin' Gamekeeper! He's just like Reg Barclay, only more social.
-"Jack! No! Don't leave me like this! Please, Jack! ... What will it take?" Hilarious. Not sure why.
-Jolinar(sp?) Can't say why, but I like him/her/it.
-Jack in Prisoners "Well, this sucks."
-Daniel's gesticulations
-General Hammond going through the gate and verbally bitchslapping Major Whatshisface and the Taldor
-The sound of Jack's hand patting General Hammond's baldy head
-When that chick in Daniel's simulation thingie spun around and became the Gamekeeper. Wicked cool.
-The spinning 3D SGC logo screensaver on one of the computers. Who the hell designs a screensaver for a classified operation?
-The Asguard (sp?)mothership. It was FREAKIN COOL. Yay.
Dislikes
-Freakin' hand devices! Who the hell doesn't have some kind of machine on their palm that can melt brains or kill with the touch of a button? WTF?
-The Weasle. Arrogant little bastard.
-The Taldor. Bastards.
-Why the hell was Jack in prison before??? No, don't tell me. I don't wanna know. Also, the possibility of him having been addicted to something before. Don't wanna know.
-The fact that Teal'c and Sam didn't get to relive a horrible experience from their pasts. I wanted to see that. I know that he's Jaffa boy and she's Naquida(sp?) girl now, and that's all cool what with the sensing of goa'ulds (sp?) and the use of fun hand devices (see above) but I wanted to see their memories too!
Mif. Well, that was fun. Time to shower and watch more Stargate before I go to work.
Hope you have all enjoyed your holidays, and the rest of your breaks.

And of course Daniel was a dick--he was hooked on ... er... "sarcs." lol You know, like narcs? Narcotics? Sarcotics from the sarcoughagus (or however the hell you spell that word)... ANYWAY! I think Michael did a wonderful job with the task of portraying Daniel, this nerdy, gentle, soft-spoken kinda guy as a raving, craving machine who wanted nothing more than to make his girlfriend happy and get his next fix. It was an incredible change from the norm. I think that's why I appreciated it so much. You know, it wasn't like Earth was at stake or a giant goa'uld mothership was headed for Earth to destroy it from above--it was about one guy getting hooked on something (which is not to say that this episode is the only one which portrays a single, important thing effecting one member directly and the others indirectly--I'm just saying it was really the first one for Daniel, and probably one of the more memorable ones.) And while his addiction was to something other-wordly, the addiction itself was not something unknown to Earth. I can't say I relate to Daniel's problem per se, but I do have a chance at understanding it and relating to it the little bit that I can. I think that's another reason why I appreciated it as much as I did. It seemed more real. I just lurved it!
Hope you're enjoying the rest of the season. Talk to you tomorrow!
