yays!

I think I may have found a breeder. The woman in East Rochester got back to me today about corgi puppies. She is having (or is closely associated with people having) three litters of corgi puppies, all to be ready around mid-september. I am excited. I'm supposed to contact her after the second of June, because that's when she is getting back from a dog show in Virginia. But that's a good sign, too. If she shows her dogs, it means she is breeding them for more than the money, because showing is a sinkhole for cash. So, if she is showing her dog, she is porbably a breeder for the love of the breed. Also, she has been a member of the PWCCA (pembroke welsh corgi club of america) for almost as long as I have been alive, so she probably knows what she is about, what with testing for congenital defects and socializing young pups. I am very sanguine (just hopeful, without the secondary meaning of bloody) about this breeder. EeeeeeEeeeE puppy. I can't wait to have a little squirmy furry baby again!

AND if you've never actually met me and had a corgi picture forced on you (or, even if you have) here's one:

Cute!
Hey, when are ya coming home? Same time(ish) as Chelsea? I'll contact you if I have that party thingy. But, only if you want me to. Hope the operation is a success! :)

Absolutely adorable.

Have you ever read the "Mrs. Murphy and Tucker" mysteries by Rita Mae Brown (and Sneaky Pie Brown)? Tucker is a Welsh Corgi and she and Mrs. Murphy (a grey tiger-striped cat) help their owner Harry Harristeen to solve various mysteries around central Virginia. It isn't cutesy - the animals do NOT talk to the human (that the humans can understand that is - you know full well that animals talk to us all the time) but it's filled with small town human touches (and horses).
