Party Politics

I am not a democrat. I don't really even like Kerry. In my opinion, he and Bush are not that different, with the exception of the war, and that is why I voted for Kerry. If the war was not involved, and if the candidates were equal (which they come pretty close to being right now) then I would go with my own beliefs and vote Nader. If I had registered for a party when I registered to vote, it would have been the Green Party if anything. But I didn't. I am unaffiliated. If you feel the need to LABEL me, you can call me Green. I do not agree with everything that Kerry says, though he does have some good ideas. I doubt he will come through with half the things he talks about, because that's just the way politicians are, especially the big-party ones. I strongly disagree with a lot of Kerry's viewpoints as well, but I voted for him because he is the lesser of two evils and Nader stands no chance of winning. So I would rather not have people get angry at me because I don't run around singing and shouting Kerry's praises. I don't believe he deserves them, so he won't really be getting mine. But I do believe that he'd make a better president than Bush (which is not saying really anything.) I also don't really believe that trying to "get the word out" at 1 am on election day is really going to make any difference. Most people on campus have already voted with absentee ballots, and those who have not yet voted and do not know who they are voting for are probably not going to vote. And that's their choice, too. I don't agree with it, but it's their choice to make, and probably nothing that I say or scream or write on the sidewalk is not going to make a bit of difference for them. I proud of any one who's beliefs were strong enough that they wanted to go out into the cold and write them on the sidewalk and let everyone know how they feel, but mine aren't. I don't know how good a president Kerry would make, but I know that I don't really like him myself. I find him reactionary and blase, so I really don't feel heated or passionate enough to drag myself, run down, exhausted, and sickly as I felt last night, into the cold to write his name all over Hartwick campus. Sorry, my belief in him is not that strong.
This entry is not meant to make anyone angry or to alienate anyone, it is just meant as an explanation of my actions which I hope everyone can now understand. I'm sorry if I disappointed or angered anyone, but I did as I believe.
